Code of Conduct for Candidates

F.C.S.U. Election

All candidates must strictly adhere to the following guidelines during the election process.
  1. No candidate shall indulge in, nor abet, any activity which may aggravate differences or create hatred between castes, communities, religions, linguistic groups or any group of students.
  2. Criticism of other candidates shall be confined to policies, programs, past record and public work. Personal life criticism or unverified allegations are strictly prohibited.
  3. No appeal to caste or communal feelings for securing votes. Places of worship shall not be used for election propaganda.
  4. Bribing voters, threatening voters, canvassing within 100 meters of polling stations, holding meetings 24 hours before poll closing, or transporting voters is strictly prohibited.
  5. Printed posters, pamphlets or printed campaign materials are not allowed. Only hand-made posters within the expenditure limit of ₹5000 are permitted.
  6. Hand-made posters may only be displayed at designated places notified by the Election Commission.
  7. No processions, public meetings or campaigning outside the college campus is allowed.
  8. Defacing or damaging college property is strictly prohibited. Candidates shall be jointly and severally liable for any damage.
  9. Processions or meetings during election period must not disturb academic activities and require prior written permission from the College authority.
  10. Use of loudspeakers, vehicles or animals for canvassing is prohibited.
  11. On polling day candidates must:
    • Co-operate with election officers.
    • Not distribute food or consumables (except water).
    • Not distribute propaganda materials.
  12. Only voters or authorized persons with valid pass from Election Commission/College authority may enter polling booths.
  13. All candidates are jointly responsible for cleaning the polling area within 48 hours after polling.
  14. Violation of any rule may lead to cancellation of candidature or elected post and disciplinary action by the College authorities.
  15. Relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Section 153A and Chapter IXA – Offences Relating to Elections) may also apply.
