Department of History
The Department of History launched its journey since the inception of the college in 1994. At the very beginning college authority introduced History as General Subject. For General Course And Major/Honors Course Departmental permission/approval was received from the session 1995-96 and 2008-09 respectively from the Gauhati University. Just after getting approval in Major/Honors Course we offered history as Major/ Honors subject for the benefit of students’ community. Presently, students can take history both as honors as well as Regular Subject. Most of the students scoring good marks both in Honors and General Subject every year. The syllabus of History Department follows Choice Base Credit System (CBCS) curriculum under Gauhati University and Bodoland University.
In addition to quality teaching, the department organizes seminar, debate and planned for preparing students for various competitive examinations from the next session. The department has considerable number of books in library and well equipped class rooms. Facilities of Smart Class Room, Internet and Computer based learning opportunity are also available in the college as well as in the department.
The Department has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of History, Sapatgram College, for faculty and students exchange programme. The main purpose of MoU is to guide the academic and research activities between the Institutions.
The faculty members are always keen to render all possible support, guidance, help and co-operation to students for better result. They are easily accessible to students so that students can express their concerns related to subject without any hesitation and learn with interest for their progression. We believe that “A Teacher is such an important creature in the life of students who through his knowledge, patience and love can give a strong shape to students’ whole life.”
