Fakiragram College started functioning from the 1st July 1994 within the premises of Fakiragram Higher Secondary School with a few students. The amount of money required for the meeting the expenditure of the College came from public donation, gift coupon draw, theatrical performances, etc. The determined efforts of the sponsoring committee, the teaching and non-teaching staff contributed greatly to overcome the major difficulties faced by the college.

Some interested and responsible persons of the locality attempted several times to establish a degree college at Fakiragram. But their attempts could not become successful. Just after the formation of B.A.C A New Flow of thinking generated in the minds of local leading persons and with the active help of young political aspirant Mr. Parameshar Brahma, the then M.L.A of 29 No. Kokrajhar East L.A.C. It became possible to establish a degree college at Fakiragram. Besides, mention must be made of Late. Mahendra Ballab Deb Choudhuy, Ex- Principal, Fakiragram H.S School, Shri. Surendra Kalita , Freedom Fighter, Late. Jamini Kr. Brahma, Literary Pensioner, Shri. Prasanta Kr. Saha Roy, Founder Principal of the College, Sri Santola Basumatary, Principal, Fakiragram H.S School and some other Social Activities namely Shri. Ranoj Kr. Brahma, Shri Abdul Badsha, Shri. Surendra Sharma, Sri Ranoj Brahma, Shri. Kholi Uddin, Late Phanindra Narayan Deb, and many more who were the leading personalities and whose untiring effort made it possible for the establishment of the college.

Fakiragram College was accorded the Govt. concurrence in 2001 and was brought under Deficit Grant-In-Aid System by the B.T.C Govt. W.E.B. 01.01.2009. The UGC enlisted The College U/S 2 (F) And 12(B) of the UGC act in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Fakiragram College has been Provincialized W.E.F. 01.01.2013. From a tiny sapling The College has grown into a grant tree of knowledge standing high and erect and spreading its leaves and branches over the nooks and crannies of Fakiragram and its adjoining areas. University results reveal academic excellence attained by the students who are equally proficient in extracurricular activities. Stress is laid on character building and all round development of the student’s personality.

The College authority is fully aware of providing full facilities to the students. It will not be out of place to mention here that there is a good number of scholars among the teaching staff in different departments of the college.
