About the Department

The Department of Education, Fakiragram College was established along with the college in the year 1994 and received affiliation under Gauhati University in 1996. Later, the department started Major Courses in 2002 fulfilling the academic needs of students.

The department has consistently shown good results in the university examinations. In 2008, two students secured 2nd and 26th positions, and in 2009, one student secured the 18th position in the final examination under Gauhati University.

At present, the department follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) under Bodoland University, Kokrajhar (BTR), Assam.

Teaching & Learning Practices

  • Faculty members use both Conventional and ICT-based teaching methods.
  • Continuous and comprehensive evaluation system is maintained for student development.
  • Project work on current issues is assigned to students as per the syllabus.
  • The department focuses on spreading knowledge for social awareness and development.

Social & Academic Initiatives

  • Initiatives to remove social barriers such as Child Marriage, Indebtedness, and Dowry System.
  • Encourages students to participate in community and social awareness programmes.
  • Promotes academic excellence and social responsibility among students.

Infrastructure & Facilities

  • Separate departmental room.
  • Psychological Laboratory with well-equipped apparatus and instruments for practical examinations.
  • Plan to establish a Departmental Library and publish academic periodicals.

Faculty Strength

The department has dedicated and qualified faculty members including Ms. Aparna Devi, Mr. Shajahan Ali, Ms. Jonali Das, and part-time faculty Mr. Mir Golam Hussain who have worked tirelessly for the growth and development of the department.
